Birkendorf is positioned within the "Dreiländereck" (Germany, Switzerland, France) i.e. between Grafenhausen and Waldshut (Swiss border) The international aeroport Kloten is only 45 minutes far away. This to the geographical position.

Birkendorf qualifies as climatic health resort (800 m) and is embedded into a very sunny, fogless plateau sourrounded by abundand old woods rich of flora and fauna. Pratically all of the foot trails allow a view to the Swiss Alps and are suitable for enjoyable walking holidays for families as for those who look after refreshing holidays. Birkendorf is also starting point for impressionable excursions to the Feldberg, to the Titisee / Schluchsee, to St. Blasien (Monaster), to near Switzerland to Zurich, for a shopping day or to the neighbor village Grafenhausen where you can visit the "Hüsly" (popular TV serie called "Schwarzwaldklinik").

And for passionate winter-fans there are - of course - many possibilities to enjoy 1 or 2 weeks during the months December - March. A 3-spur for cross-country skiing passes directly our house and the highest mountain in the Black Forest - the Feldberg - is not far away to enjoy mountain skiing.

And equestrian-fans also get their's money's worth. Saddle-horses, bridle-paths, riding school, indoor and outdoor arena, all that is available too.

A golf place including mini-golf is embedded in one of the most interesting areas of the Black Forest and certainly may attract beginners or professionals.

Not to mention all the other distractions offered:
  • playing table tennis, bicycles, playing chess, using the keep-fit trail for your health;
  • and certainly one of the highlights will be the visit of the Europa - Park (ca. 90 car-minutes away;
  • taking your time for reading / writing the novells or software programms you always wanted to read or to write;
  • learn about the flora by absolving the nature trail;
  • or simply enjoy a bath in the near swimming pool or listing to the traditional Black Forest musicians;
  • and here you will find many other facilities.

For your epicurean pleasure many good and hospital gastronomical facilities (Edeka, bakeries, butcher, traditional pubs) are available to seduce you with their delicious products.
